I have a PhD in Microadventures! :o) Today, I went to a coffee shop I've never been to before. Thursday, I'm going to a concert (won free tickets) of a band I know nothing about (My Morning Jacket). Microadventures keep me going. Novelty is everything.
When I retired in September I made a list of trips and things to do. I sorted them into short, medium and longer and promised myself I’d do at least I each week. I didn’t quite, but the weather was wet and miserable so staying home did look very attractive. However, the next few weeks will be all about visiting bluebell woods.
I absolutely love this idea!! I'm low on funds due to making a career change and it can be tough to figure out new things to do. I love reframing in this way and getting friends in on it too!
I recently started cat sitting for other people so having mini adventures not too far from home. Got one booked in for 2 nights at the end of this month - I’ll be house and cat sitting 2 fluffs only 3 miles from home. I rarely walk that way, so going to use the time to explore unfamiliar paths

That’s what happiness is all about! 🩶
That’s my way of life…I’m glad you’re writing about it!
For starters, a good tip is to do what a tourist in your city or state would do…basically play tourist once a week…for a good life!
Alistair Humphrey’s book ‘microadventures’ first introduced me to this idea and I try to practice it regularly! It brings such joy!

These are lessons I'm currently learning.
Also very slowly unlearning that I have to be productive 24/7
Thank you for sharing the concept of micro adventures I love it and will be trying to embrace more and more 🥰
