the weekly review | 22
happy Friday everyone! I’m actually writing this a day early, and using this to procrastinate from packing as I’m off to the North Yorkshire coast for the weekend! I love going on adventures and weekends away, but I absolutely hate packing (and unpacking). Does anyone else get the absolute fear that they’ve forgotten something major?
It’s going to be a road trip, and I’m really excited, mainly because a few weeks ago I couldn’t even hold a cup of tea properly, let alone drive a car. Since having a major flare up of my arthritis, and finally getting my movement back, I’ve started feeling grateful for the smallest of moments. Yesterday I drove for the first time, and felt so grateful and calm that I was actually able to have this freedom again. Cooking is something that brings me a lot of joy, and not being in pain when I’m chopping feels like the greatest thing in the world. I feel like I’ve had a major reframe of everything, and this new perspective is helping me manage things a lot better!
Finn’s PUPdate: Finn is doing really well! He’s absolutely mental, and has some moments of biting, but when he’s not doing that, he’s an absolute angel. He’s learnt to get up the stairs, but coming down is still a struggle 😂 and he’s definitely found his voice and is a cheeky chap for sure. But it’s so lovely to have a dog again, and it’s just over 1 week until we can start taking him out and about for walks and adventures, and I cannot wait for that!
R - So I’m currently reading Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop and whilst it’s quite gentle and slow paced, I’m really enjoying it. It’s about the comings and goings of a bookshop, and the lives of the two people who work there. Nothing much happens, and it’s not the most gripping, but there’s something really enjoyable about reading it.
Also, the new Indy Coffee Guide came out the other week, and so I got the north, east and mids one and I’m so excited to a) see so many of my fave coffee places in here and b) try some new coffee places out too.
E - I made onion bhaji’s for the first time in the air fryer this week, using the Bored of Lunch recipe. I’d not realised just how easy they are to make, and whilst they weren’t perfect, they were blooming tasty!
P - Last One Laughing UK landed on Amazon Prime and I’ve been howling watching it. There are some of my fave comedians in there (Bob Mortimer, Richard Ayowade and Lou Sanders) and as a group they are just so so so funny. I can’t wait for the next episode to land!
O - When we moved house, we upgraded our pod coffee machine to an espresso machine, and this week I had the realisation that I could easily make myself an iced coffee. So every afternoon, I’ve sat outside in the sunshine to play with Finn and drink my iced coffee and it’s brought me so much joy!
R - Another 10/10 meal I made this week was Chicken Fajita’s, using my trusted recipe from Antoni from Queer Eye. Honestly, this recipe is an absolute winner and is a firm favourite in our household!
T - I love a good cuppa, and I went to Bird & Blend last week and bought some fresh loose leaf tea, and a new teapot and I have loved sitting down to work at my desk with a pot of buttermint tea - perfection!
On the blog
There’s nothing new on the blog this week, as I’m currently redesigning it!
You can still browse the website right now, and the new look will hopefully be ready for you next week!!
I’d love to hear what your highlights have been this week! Have you had any good adventures, read any good books and substacks, tried any cute cafes? Share in the comments!!
See you next week
