happy fridaaaay gang 👋🏼 it’s been a while since I sat down to write a weekly review and i’m so excited to get stuck into everything with you.
This week, my online life has been mental. I woke up this morning with 20,000 instagram followers, which is almost double the amount of people following last week. It’s been crazy, but also so lovely to be having so many conversations about microadventures, which are some of my favourite things to talk about.
I’ve been creating content since I was 16, so over 12 years, and never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d reach this point. I’m honestly so grateful for everyone who has taken the time to follow, comment, read and enjoy the content I put out, and I’ve loved getting to have so many incredible conversations as well.
Offline life has also been mental. It’s week 2 of having our puppy, Finn, and he’s adorable but exhausting! It’s also the first week I’ve felt like me again, after 3 months of being in the worst arthritis/fibromyalgia flare up of my life. I can’t explain the relief of finally being given some medication that’s actually reduced my inflammation, and being able to move and get out and about again.
(I also definitely think the sun coming out, and having a dog again, has improved my mood as well!)
So, onto this weeks review! It’s been so long since I’ve done this, so I’m going to put in a few answers for each thing, because I’ve read so many good books, listened to some great podcasts and watched a lot of good tv that I want to share with you!
R - Last night I finished reading Weyward by Emilia Hart and wow. What an incredible book, set in Cumbria. It’s got a little bit of magic in there, and tells the story of three incredible women.
Some other stand out books I’ve read recently; Before the Coffee Gets Cold (very late to the party, and I get the hype!), Evenings and Weekends and The Trial
E - Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’d say Rudy’s do some of the best pizza’s and yesterday I went for the first time in forever. I had their monthly special, the Capocollo and Leek with Tuscan salume on top and oof, it was gooood.
P - it’s Great British Menu season, and I love this show so I’ve been watching that this week. Any fella GBM fans? I’m so excited for finals week!
When I’m in a flare up, tv is my happy place, so I’ve watched a lot of really good shows recently. As well as rewatching New Girl, some stand out shows have been Running Point, The Bay, The Devil in the family : The Fall of Ruby Franke, Bump, Sweet Magnolias, Queer Eye and A Man on the Inside!
O - Something I’ve become obsessed with is cooking. I’ve really gotten back into cooking, and after watching this show on Channel 4 about Batch Cooking, then bought The Batch Lady’s budget cook book and now my freezer is jam packed with all of the food! One thing that tasted incredible is the mushroom bolognaise and it’s 10/10.
Some other recent obsessions; the app Vinted (I’ve bought so many books on here recently!), Dishoom breakfast, and Knoops hot chocolate!
R - I’m a decaf girlie, and I’m always looking for good decaf drink. I’ve had so many ads for Blendsmiths on instagram, so got some samples and I can’t recommend them enough! The turmeric and cinnamon blend is the perfect anti-inflammatory drink, and I loved the sweetness of the Beetroot and Ginger blend!
Another recommendation is to take your vitamins. I’ve felt so much better since I started taking these Vitamin D3 + K2, Magnesium Glycinate & Omega-3 gummies (because this chronically ill girlie cannot swallow tablets!). I’ve been taking them for a month, and I’ve felt so much better since taking them.
T - Have you seen everyone raving about the Next gingham trousers? I’ve been trying to get my hands on them for ages, and I was in the shop and found one pair, by themselves, on a random rail and in my size!! It felt like a sign so obviously they were coming home with me and they’re so comfy!
