a visit from Jack Frost, a very cosy beanie, and getting into the Christmas Spirit ✨
Good Morning gang! How are we already at the 20th weekly review - I absolutely adore sitting down and writing these, as it’s such a great way to reflect on the week just gone. It’s strange, usually I’m really good at writing in my diary daily, but this year I haven’t even filled half a notebook! But these weekly reviews have been my favourite way to reflect recently (although one of my new years resolutions is 100% to get back into my journaling groove!)
Old Jack Frost has come to stay here in The Lakes this week. It’s felt so magical, even if there wasn’t any snow. On my drive this morning, I saw cute villages with thick frost-capped roofs, an incredible sunrise with a bright blue sky, and it’s just beautiful, albeit a little scary as I’m not used to driving when it’s icy! I just love this time of year, though, with the twinkling lights and getting wrapped up in all the knitwear!
Have you had snow this week? Or any winter microadventures? I’d love to hear about them!
R - I’ve nearly finished reading the Booker Prize winner, Orbital. This is an absolutely fascinating and beautifully written book, set on the space station. Each chapter covers one orbit of the earth, and there are 16 in total. It highlights the fragility of life and looks at the relationship between life and the earth.
E - I spent last weekend with two of my friends, and we did the ultimate girl dinner of all of the christmas party food - it was great. I can really recommend the Tesco Party Food (a special mention goes to chorizo, mac and cheese bites). This + Christmas crafting = a pretty perfect weekend with some of my besties.
P - Does it count if it only came out today? Well I’m already on my second listen of the day, and it’s the Wicked soundtrack from the new movie. I’m listening to it right now, and I adore it. I cannot wait to go and see it! Where are my fellow musical theater kids? 🙋🏻♀️
O - I feel like we’re really getting into the Christmas spirit, and I’ve been obsessed with listening to Christmas music, watching festive shows/films and just getting into the spirit of the season. I’ve realised that with all of the renovation work, I’m not going to be able to decorate until half way through December (which is heartbreaking for a November decorator!), so every little helps!
R - On Tuesday, I went to Chester, and whilst there stumbled across the most beautiful coffee shop, Chalk. With perfectly smooth coffee and delicious pastel de natas, it was a brilliant place to escape the cold and warm up!
T - I love a beanie hat, and couldn’t find my favourite one from last year - I know it’s packed away somewhere just waiting to be found. So I treated myself to a new Passenger beanie hat and it’s been perfect for these cold wintery days!
There won’t be a weekly review next week, as I’ll be on the Eurostar to my first ever European Christmas Markets!! But there’ll be an extra post as soon as I’m back with some postcards!
I’d love to hear what your highlights have been this week! Have you had any good adventures, read any good books and substacks, tried any cute cafes? Share in the comments!!
See you next week
